Wynnette (Parker) Guge-Young, 72, of Osawatomie, Kansas, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2015, at Life Care Center of Osawatomie. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Family will meet with friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at the mortuary. Burial will follow at Antioch Cemetery, Franklin County, Kansas. Wynnie was born Thursday, March 25, 1943, in Aurora, Colorado, the oldest of 10 children born to Edward and Betty (Cummickel) Parker. She moved to Franklin County in the mid 1950’s, moving to Ottawa in 1960. She has lived in Osawatomie since 2005. She graduated from Pomona High School with the class of 1961. Wynnie was united in marriage with Harold W. “John” Guge October 30, 1960. He preceded her in death October 27, 1993. She married Les Elliott January 20, 1998. He preceded her in death June 29, 2000. On October 1, 2005, Wynnie married Larry Young. He survives of the home. Other survivors include her two sons, Scott Guge and wife, Glenda of Ottawa, and Eddy Guge of Lawrence; five granddaughters, Sarah Duggan and husband, Edward, Holly Harris and husband, Ben, Emma Guge, Heather Ball and companion, Dave Stevens, Tayler Guge and companion, Tyler Markus; grandson, Parker Guge; four great grandchildren, Wyatt Pierpont, Gracie Stevens, Murphy Duggan, and Madalyn Markus; four sisters, Karen Walburn and husband, Gary, Laura Snider and husband, Ralph, Linda Roller and husband, Brian, all of Ottawa, and Susan Higbee and husband, Troy of Yucca Valley, California; four brothers, Wayne Parker and wife, Judy of Belton, Texas, John Parker and wife, LaVon of Ellis, Kansas, Martin Parker of Ottawa, and Rick Parker of Newton, Kansas; and many nieces and nephews. Others preceding her in death include her parents; sister, Jeannette Jensen; and niece, Julie Jensen. Wynnie worked for H.D. Lee in Ottawa until they closed, then at Wal-Mart, retiring in 2008. She was a former member of the Ottawa Cherry Street Wesleyan Church. Wynnie was a current member of the First Christian Church of Osawatomie. She was a woman of strong faith. Wynnie enjoyed taking trips with her sisters, camping, fishing and her favorite candy, Good & Plenty. She learned how to make and decorate cakes, making many birthday and holiday cakes for her family and friends. She loved to sew, garden, listen to country music, cats and the color purple.
