Wilma Jean was born December 20, 1943, in Ottawa, Franklin County, Kansas, the daughter of Lawrence Francis 'Mac' and Viola Frances (McFarland) McEvoy. She grew up in Ottawa and moved to Wichita in 1971, where she made her home until her death on Thursday, March 8, 2007, at the age of sixty-three years. She graduated from Lawrence Cosmetology School in 1969, and earned her G.E.D. in 1991. Jeanie began her hair stylist career in 1969. From 1999 to 2003, she owned and operated her own shop at her home. She enjoyed the outdoors and liked to go fishing in her leisure time. She also enjoyed Sunday drives and eating out. She greatly loved the companionship of her pet dogs, Herk, Missy, and Peaches. Jeanie loved people and had so much fun at family gatherings and always enjoyed visiting with her many friends. On July 7, 1971, Jeanie was united in marriage with Duane Lash in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He survives of the home. She is also survived by her mother; three cousins, Dianne Palmer and her husband, Bill, of McPherson, Kansas, Pat Maxwell and her husband, Gene, of Ottawa, Kansas, Doris Heckman and her husband, Earl, of Ottawa, Kansas, and an aunt, Frances Roller of Ottawa, Kansas. She is preceded in death by her father. SERVICES: Friends may pay their respects to Mrs. Lash at the Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa after 8:00 a.m. on Monday, March 12, 2007, where the family will meet with friends at 10:00 a.m. and process to Woodlawn Cemetery in Pomona for Graveside Services at 11:00.
