Willis M. Steen, 91, Paola, Kansas passed away Friday, June 27, 2008 at Louisburg Care Center. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday July 2, 2008 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Visitation will be on Tuesday July 1, 2008 from 3: 00 " 5:00 pm at Penwell-Gabel Louisburg Chapel. Burial will follow at St. Mary"s Cemetery in Louisburg. Memorial contributions may be given to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) or to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in care of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Louisburg KS. Willis was born June 11, 1917 at Drexel, Missouri, the son of Robert and Frances (Miller) Steen. On July 10, 1944 he was united in marriage to Barbara Catherine Martel. Mr. Steen was a WWII veteran serving in the Army from February, 1942 to November, 1945. It was one of his proudest accomplishments. He was a dairy farmer who raised prize winning gurnsey cattle. After retiring in the dairy business he continued to farm and garden. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the VFW of Louisburg. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara of 51 years, his parents, and brothers Rob Will Steen and Max Steen. He is survived by a son, Philip and wife Patty, Manhatten, KS.; daughters, Sylvia and Jane Steen of the home, and Paula Wright, Colorado Springs, Colorado; sister, Helen Lacy, Drexel, Mo. and many nephews and nieces.
