William "Bill" Sprague, age 68, of Louisburg, Kansas, died Tuesday October 20, 2009 at Kansas City Hospice House from lung cancer. He was born December. 3, 1940, in Sedan. KS, the son of William Lloyd and Edith May Sprague. He was united in marriage to Rose Marie Houser on November 23, 1962 in Columbus, KS. Bill attended Sedan schools. He graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kansas in 1962. He obtained his Masters of Electrical Engineering degree from Washington University in St. Louis in 1967 and his MBA from Rockhurst University in the Executive Fellows Program in 1986. Bill retired from Bendix/Allied Signal/Honeywell in March 2000 after 32 years. The last two years of his career were spent in Washington D.C. as a consultant for the Department of Energy. Bill"s hobbies were many. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, wood working and reading. He obtained his pilot"s license while living in D.C. and enjoyed flying. His main source of enjoyment was his four grandchildren. He went to all of their school activities including sports and scouting events. A home at the Lake of the Ozarks was a favorite gathering place for the family in the spring and summer. Bill and his wife Rose Marie enjoyed their European and U.S. travels. He was a member of the Louisburg United Methodist Church and served as chairman of the Trustees and was past President of the Louisburg Lions Club. Survivors include his wife, Rose Marie, of the home; his son, William Bradley and Kay Sprague, Shawnee, KS; his daughter, Pamela Marie & Robb White, Basehor, KS; his 4 grandchildren, Caleb & Zachary White and Liam & Maya Sprague; sister, Kathie Musgrave, Liberty, MO; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 24, 2009 at the Louisburg United Methodist Church with the visitation being held from 10:00 " 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Overland Park, KS. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Louisburg United Methodist Church Bell Tower project, K.C.
