William J. “Bill” Spratt, 60, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at his home in Rantoul, Kansas. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, east on Hwy 68 in Miami County. Mr. Spratt will lie in state at Dengel & Son Mortuary after 9:00 A.M., Monday, June 6, 2016, where the family will meet with friends from 6:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M., Monday. Bill was born Monday, July 11, 1955, in Hutchinson, Kansas, the son of Clifford and Lola (Beets) Spratt. He was a lifelong Rantoul resident. He graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1974. Bill was united in marriage with Radie King May 25, 1974, in Rantoul. They later divorced. Survivors include his two daughters, Lisa Diediker and husband John of Osawatomie, and Michelle Dennison of Rantoul; siblings, JoAnne Spratt of Rantoul, and Sanford Striplin and wife Ruth of Partridge; step-brothers, Darren Beets and wife Faye of Gardner, and David Beets and wife Anna of Ottawa; six grandchildren; and dear friend, Sandra Meiers. He was preceded in death by his parents; and also his biological parents, William L. and Fern Rose Striplin; son, Michael Higginbotham; sister, Edith Gould; brother, James Striplin; and step-sister, Toni (Beets) Jones. Bill was employed in production at Mid America Plastics in Gardner, from the early 1990s to mid 2000s. He was a member of the Ruhamah Baptist Church in Rantoul. Bill enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was known for tinkering on almost anything, collecting junk, and was an experienced “picker” of antiques and collectibles.
