William Ivel 'Bill' Hink was born on Thursday, December 7, 1911, on a farm near Rosston, Oklahoma. He was one of seven children born to William Louis and Alice (Booth) Hink. He lived in Williamsburg, Kansas from 1949 to 1992, moving to Garnett, Kansas in 1992 and Ottawa, in Franklin County, Kansas in 2006, where he made his home until his death on Tuesday, February 26, 2008, at the age of ninety-six years. As a young man, he operated heavy construction equipment, building roads in northwestern Kansas. Following his marriage and move to Franklin County, he began farming and raising cattle and was an active cattle rancher for sixty years, eventually retiring in Garnett. He was a member of Williamsburg United Methodist Church and former member of Kansas Livestock Association, Charolais Association, and Yorkshire Hog Association. Most important to Bill was his family. He especially enjoyed family gatherings, never wanting them to end. He also loved spending time with his cattle. On March 28, 1936, Bill was united in marriage with Farris I. Hewitt in Norton, Kansas. She survives of the home. He is also survived by six nephews, V. G. Rima of Seattle, Washington, Dallas Hurt of Radium Springs, New Mexico, Dorman Hurt and his wife, Julia, of Osawatomie, Kansas, Don Brooks and his wife, Mary, of Lyndon, Kansas, Bob Brooks and his wife, Debra, of Garnett, Kansas, Edwin Leeper of Illinois; four nieces, Melba Zinn and her husband, Keith, of Andover, Kansas, Kaye Moutray of Wichita, Kansas, Glenda Higbee of Wichita, Kansas, Sherri Pierson and her husband, Alan, of Wichita, Kansas; and many great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by five sisters, Cleo Landers, Carol Rima, Velma Hurt, Helen Hess, Ruth Van Ausdall; and brother, Leland Hink. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from Williamsburg United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2008, where the family will meet with friends from 1 to 2:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mr. Hink at the Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday. CEMETERY: Mt. Hope Cemetery, Williamsburg, Kansas.
