William Donald “Don” Price, 92, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Monday, February 2, 2015. Friends may pay their respects to Mr. Price at Dengel & Son Mortuary from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 4, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Faith Lutheran Church. Interment Princeton Cemetery, Princeton, Kansas. Don was born Monday, May 8, 1922 in Princeton, Kansas, the son of Forest and Maud (Fellnagle) Price. He was a near lifelong Franklin County resident. He graduated from Princeton High School with the class of 1940. He moved to Ottawa in 1941, and worked for Peterson Mages Studebaker while taking a correspondence course in aviation mechanics. In 1942, Don moved to California to complete his studies until August 1942 when he enlisted in the United States Navy. Don served in the Navy during World War II from the summer of 1942 to the conclusion of the war in 1945. He served in the Pacific Theater, as a Machinist Mate Second Class, receiving commendations including American Area, Asiatic Pacific 6 Stars, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct and the Victory Medal. Don was united in marriage with Carol Nelson June 30, 1956. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his daughter, Joan Frank of Oklahoma; four grandsons, Joshua Price and wife, Courtney, Jeffrey Price and significant other, Tricia Crowe, Don and Mike Foster all of Ottawa; many great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jacklyn Thomas of Louisburg; daughter-in-law, Deb Price and husband, Kelly Tippetts of Richmond; two nieces, Donna Fernandez of Richmond and Kathy Frazier of southern California; and five nephews, Dale Ibison of Richmond, Mark Thomas and wife, Julia of Williamsburg, and Mike Roberts of southern California, as well as many additional nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Stephen Price; three sisters, Virginia Stephenson, Pearl Ibison and Lois Price-Roberts; and grandson, Jason Price. Don worked as a mechanic for Lee Barnett Allis Chalmers, Ottawa, and in the 1960’s, he purchased and renamed the business, Price Sales. He later worked as a master mechanic for Shepherds Garage in Pomona, Kansas. Through the years he helped his father on the family farm, taking full responsibility after his father’s passing.
