William Dean Worthington, 84, of Pomona, Kansas passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at Richmond Healthcare & Rehabilitation. Family will meet with friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, November 30, 2014, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Cremation is planned with graveside inurnment services at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 1, 2014, at Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona. William was born Sunday, May 4, 1930 in Tecumseh, Kansas, the son of William P. and Bethel (Spencer) Worthington. He has been a resident of Pomona since 1960, moving from Tecumseh. William attended Highland Park High School, Topeka, Kansas, with the class of 1947. He worked as a dairy farmer in the late 1950’s to the late 1970’s and was an owner-operator and over-the-road truck driver from the late 1970’s until his retirement in 1996. He was a member of the Rock Creek Church of Christ in Ottawa and former member of the Church of Christ, Stull, Kansas. Survivors include his three sons, Gary Worthington and wife Juanita of Marshall, Texas, Darold Worthington of Ottawa and Gregg Worthington of Pomona; brother, Wayne Worthington of Pueblo, Colorado; two sisters, Virginia Pollom of Tecumseh, Kansas and Marge Petterson of Glendale, Arizona; seven grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family suggests memorial contributions to Franklin County Diabetes Association c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
