William Clinton Wiseman

William Clinton Wiseman, 69, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Monday, May 17, 2021, at AdventHealth Ottawa. A celebration of life will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., Friday, June 4, 2021 at The Bottle House, 204 S. Walnut, Ottawa, Kansas 66067. Bill was born October 11, 1951, at Lawrence, Kansas, the son of Gordon G. and Mavis (Paterson) Wiseman. He was raised in Lawrence until moving to Emporia, Kansas where he lived from 1969 to 1983. In 1983, Bill moved to Ottawa where he made his home until his death. He graduated from Lawrence High School with the class of 1969 and later graduated from Emporia State University earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology in 1976. On May 7, 1977, Bill was united in marriage to Kathleen McCoy at Emporia. They were happily married 44 years having two children Clinton and Lauren. Bill began his career as a Journeyman Electrician with Gerald Schumann Electric in Emporia, Kansas. In 1980, he was hired at Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation, where he worked in many positions, including Preventative Maintenance Supervisor and Head of the FIN Team, until his retirement in 2015. He was a member of the Kansas Bluegrass Association, Folk Alliance International, and former praise band member at First United Methodist Church. Bill was elected for two terms as Precinct #8 Democratic Committeeman. Bill was a lifelong bluegrass and folk musician, and enjoyed sailing, camping, and travel. He was preceded in death by his parents Gordon and Mavis Wiseman. Survivors include his wife Kathleen of the home; two children, Clinton Wiseman (Shannon Sullivan) of Seattle, Washington, and Lauren Wiseman (Christopher Smith) of Santa Rosa, California; brother Alan Wiseman (Marilyn Goris) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; niece Eleanor, and nephew Wesley. The family suggests memorial contributions to Friends of Eisenhower State Park or Hope House c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
