With heavy hearts and deep gratitude, we announce the peaceful passing of Bill White, aged 81, of Spring Hill, Kansas. Surrounded by the love of his family, Bill leaves behind a profound legacy of leadership, kindness, and devotion to those he cherished most.
Born to Otis and Minnie White of Osawatomie, Kansas, Bill was one of 4 siblings, growing up in a close-knit family. He attended Paola Schools, where he met the love of his life, Helen (Ohlmeier) White. Their love story began in high school and flourished into marriage on June 2, 1962. Together, they shared over six decades of adventure, love, and joy, starting with Bill’s service in the Air Force, raising four children, and culminating in the quiet joys of retirement, until Helen’s passing in June of this year.
Bill dedicated over 30 years of his professional life to the Federal Aviation Administration, where he formed many lifelong friendships. Even in retirement, some friends remained close. He loved meeting with friends regularly over breakfast at the Whistle Stop Café in Osawatomie. In his later years, Bill reawakened his love for painting, producing cherished works of art and sharing his talent by teaching painting classes to eager beginners who remember him fondly. A man of many talents, Bill was also an avid supporter of youth sports. He coached the local girls’ softball team, Hadlock Cabinets, leading them to back-to-back State Championships in 1992 and 1993.
To his family and friends, Bill was a man of God, pillar of strength, devoted husband, loving father, a proud grandfather and great-grandfather. His unwavering commitment to his family was at the heart of everything he did. Bill is survived by his children, Cindy (Brian), Bill Jr., Rob (Janea), and Sarah (Jim); his beloved grandchildren, Eric, Brian, David, Kellie, Emily, Ali, Kyla, Kaitlyn, Mikayla, and Maria; and his great-grandchildren, Kevin, Kloe, Troy, Mila, and Ava.
As we say goodbye to this remarkable man, we take comfort in the legacy he leaves behind. Bill’s life was a testament to love, hard work, and the power of family. His influence will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
We invite all who loved Bill to join us in celebrating his life, sharing memories, and honoring the lasting impact he had on each of us. Though we mourn his loss, we will forever cherish his lessons, his laughter, and the love he brought to our lives.
