William "Bill" Paul Sinclair

William (Bill) Paul Sinclair passed away Sunday, December 1, 2024 at his home in Parker, KS. 

Bill was born June 5, 1950 in Ottawa, KS to William Arthur and Betty Jean (Loree) Sinclair. He was the oldest of 6 children. The family moved in 1954 to Osawatomie and made this area their home. 

Bill graduated Osawatomie High in 1968. He then went on to college. School was not his forte-- he spent time at PSU, ESU, FCCC and received his degree at MNU. 

He worked in construction and railroad before finding his forte as Nursing Home Administrator. He started as an intern then obtained his NHA license in 1974. He moved to Clay Center and oversaw the completion of construction and opening of Liberty Square Nursing Home in 1976. He then moved back to Miami County and worked as Administrator at what was then Friendship Manor in Paola before obtaining the position of co-administrator at Holiday Manor in Osawatomie. He remained there till he took a position at Osawatomie State Hospital in 1987. He worked as an executive for the state till his retirement as the Director of Operations in 2013. Additional to Bill’s administrative duties, Bill opened and operated two local businesses in Osawatomie. The Land of Oz Health Club and Wizard Video, one of the first video stores in Osawatomie. Both were popular ventures for the city’s population. Bill was active in the community, serving as president of the chamber of commerce and member of the John Brown Jamboree committee 

 He was married to Judy Gander from 1979-2000. This marriage born one daughter, Anna Elizabeth, and two stepdaughters, April and Jennifer Gander. Some of his fondest memories were times spent with his in-laws. Bill moved to Parker in 2001. He and Nancy Barnett later married in 2006. Bill accepted Nancy’s three children Tony, Tina, and Michaela Sharp and thought of them as his own. 

Surviving Bill is his wife Nancy, daughters Anna Elizabeth Gross (Greg ), Tina Bartlett (Jeremy), Michaela Welborn (Tylor), son Tony Sharp (Tammy), siblings Susan Sumrall (Denis), Glen Sinclair (Ann), Rebecca Diehm (Kenny), Jill Halverson (Eric), thirteen grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren. Preceding Bill in death are his parents Bill and Betty, infant brother Ryan, and his mother-in-law Betty (George) Seitz

His friends included people from his childhood and school and maintained those relationships for his lifetime. His best bud (good and bad) was Donnie McReynolds, along with his wife, Debbie. Bill’s sense of humor is one not to be forgotten. Bill had a dry sense of humor that would catch people off guard and created some hilarious moments. His hobbies included: smoking meats, camping, boating, four wheeling, shooting guns, side by side cruising and beer drinking. Planning events was his passion. These events included Cow Stock (1970), pig-outs, chili cook offs, houseboat trips, river float trips, meat smoking events, family birthdays and gatherings, vacations and camping adventures.

Bill was well loved by his family and friends and will be missed immensely.
