William L. “Bill” Meyer, 74, of Ottawa, Kansas was called home to Heaven on Friday, December 20, 2013. Funeral services will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, 2:00 P.M. Friday, December 27, 2013. Family will meet with friends at the church from 6:30 to 7:30 P.M. Thursday. Interment Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. Bill was born on Tuesday, April 11, 1939 in Sabetha, Kansas. He was the son of Louis Jr. and Marguerite (Oldridge) Meyer. Bill lived in Ottawa since 1969 moving from Hiawatha, Kansas where he lived for several years. He graduated from Sabetha High School, Sabetha, Kansas with the class of 1957. On August 28, 1960 Bill was united in marriage with Marilyn Bearce in Hiawatha. Survivors include his wife; three children, Jeffrey Meyer and wife Lou of Wellsville, Kansas, Shari Geist and husband Robbie of Ottawa and Dawn Carter and husband David of Lawrence; seven grandchildren, Trenton, Blake and Cole Meyer, Greg Perry and his wife Laura, Jennifer Perry, and Ashley and Amber Carter; great granddaughter, Elizabeth Perry; sister, Deanna Johnson and husband Dennis of Atlantic, Iowa, and brother, Gary Meyer and wife Sheree of Pinewood, South Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents. Bill worked as a salesman from 1969 to 1980 for Fulton Furniture, Ottawa and in the early 1980’s for Leadbetter Homes, retiring in 2000.
