William “Bill” John Bellinger, age 75, of Richmond, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2023, surrounded by family, at Richmond Healthcare and Rehabilitation, Richmond, Kansas.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 24, 2023, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory St., Ottawa, KS 66067. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 25, 2023, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Burial to follow at Ruhamah Cemetery, Rantoul, Kansas.
Bill was born on Friday, July 30, 1948, in Slayton, Minnesota. He was the son of Freeman and Rensina (Schuur) Bellinger. He lived in Minnesota before moving to Illinois, Indiana, and then to Kansas for most of his life.
Bill worked for Ottawa Truck as a painter for almost 30 years. A man of many passions he had a love of old cars and music. Bill was a proud member of local bands The Sidekicks and later The Roadrunners. If he was not playing in his bands, he could be found at all the local car shows displaying his most prized possession, his Award Winning 1955 Chevy Bel Air. Not one to be indoors, Bill enjoyed being outside, fishing and spending time at the lake camping with family. Bill loved being and. spending time with his family and his beloved dogs, Jazzy and Sissy.
Bill was one of a kind. He was especially ornery, with a great sense of humor, and loved to make people laugh. These traits along with his intense love for his family and friends will be what carries his memory on.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Freeman and Rensina Bellinger, one brother, Jimmy Bellinger and sister-in-law, Carol Bellinger.
Bill is survived by his four children; Donnie (Vikki) Bellinger, of Waverly, Kansas, Kevin (Aislynn) Bellinger, of Garnett, Kansas, Kelvin (Kristy) Bellinger, Lawrence, Kansas and Kelly Coopman, of Ottawa, Kansas, 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, seven siblings; Jake Bellinger, of Wellsville, Kansas, Sharon Brewer, of Lebanon, Missouri, Lori (Jerry) Redick, of Lebanon, Missouri, Kenny (Blanka) Bellinger, of Rantoul, Kansas, Kathy (Ken) Sobba, of Rantoul, Kansas, Patti (Jeff) Higbie, of Jefferson City, Missouri, and Wanda Wood of Rantoul Kansas, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
The family would like to request that all who attend please dress casual due to the heat.
