William "Bill" David Hale

William David Bill Hale, 53, died Sunday, February 8th, 2009, at his home in Ottawa, Kansas. Bill was born July 14th, 1955, in Kansas City, Kansas, to William and Earline (Ross) Hale. Bill attended Wyandotte High School in Kansas City, Kansas. Bill was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force on February 18th, 1975. He was united in marriage to Kimberly Ann (Currant) Hale on April 9th, 1982, at North Baptist Church in Ottawa, Kansas. She survives. Bill worked the oil fields as a young man, with Mic Cassidy Drilling, then briefly owning his own rig. He worked at Ottawa Truck as a painter for 12 years. He then worked for Royal Tractor in Gardner, Kansas as a mechanic, ending his work career at Kubota Mid-West Power Sales in Olathe, Kansas as a specialized mechanic. Bill had an array of hobbies and interests. He loved fishing, camping and boating, enjoying time with his family and friends at the lake just hanging out in his cut-off blue jeans. Bill enjoyed rebuilding vehicles and anything with a challenge to it. He loved to put models together and spent many hours painting, whether it was a vehicle or a picture. Ultimately, spending time with his grandbabies was undoubtedly the highlight of his life. He loved those babies. Survivors include his parents, William and Earline (Ross) Hale of Kansas City, Kansas; brother, Jim Hale of Livingston, Tennessee; three sons, David Hale of Kansas City, Kansas, William J. Hale of Aurora, Missouri, Jerry Hale of Mt. Vernon, Missouri; daughter, Jacquelyn Hale of Gardner, Kansas; eight grandchildren, Trey Hale of Topeka, Kansas, Brandon Yanez of Pomona, Kansas, Jocelyn Hale of Chanute, Kansas, Malachi Hale of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, Payton Hale of Gardner, Kansas, Benjamin Whittaker of Gardner, Kansas, Elizabeth Hale of Fairview, Missouri, Lilly Hale of Verona, Missouri; many brothers in-law, sisters in-law, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, Dalton Hale. Cremation is planned. Memorial services will be held at Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 12, 2009. The family suggests memorial contributions to William Bill Hale Memorial Fund, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
