Willena A. Boehm, age 81, of Ottawa, Kansas, died Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at Ottawa Retirement Village. She was born on Wednesday, May 21, 1930, in Colony, Kansas, the daughter of W. W. “Bill” and Frances Anona (Yates) Simpson. Willena grew up in Colony and after her first marriage, she and her first husband, Ray Holloway, lived in Iola and later, Carlyle, Kansas. She lived in Olathe, Kansas, prior to moving to Pomona in 1987 and Ottawa in 2007. Willena attended Colony schools and Star Grade School in Anderson County. She worked for Kress Five & Dime, Peter Pan Ice Cream & Short Orders, and Singer IGA, all in Iola. She did self-employed wallpapering, worked for Zarda Ice Cream, and West Lake Hardware all in Olathe, and as a sales associate for Wal-Mart in Olathe and Ottawa for a total of fifteen years, retiring in 1995. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ottawa. On December 24, 1945, Willena was united in marriage with Ray L. Holloway in Olathe, Kansas. He preceded her in death in October of 1971. On May 29, 1981, Willena was united in marriage with Ray Boehm in Miami, Oklahoma. He survives of their home. She is survived by her: Husband-Ray Boehm of the home; Daughter-Willena Tressler and her husband, Grayden, of Yates Center, Kansas; Daughter-Wanona Masters and her husband, George, of Burlingame, Kansas; Daughter-Connie Freshour and her husband, Ralph, of LeRoy, Kansas; Daughter-Melody Holloway and her friend, Gary Lang, of Iola, Kansas; Brother-Forrest Simpson and his wife, Darlene, of Garden City, Kansas; Seven - Grandchildren; Eighteen - Gt.Grandchildren and Two - Gt.Gt.Grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her: First Husband-Ray L. Holloway Parents-W. W. “Bill” and Frances Anona Simpson Brother-W. R. “Billy” Simpson Brother-Karl Simpson Son-in-law-George “Tom” Pearce Grandson-Mike Freshour Grandson-Jason Levi Beggs SERVICES: A Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ottawa at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 16, 2012. IN STATE: Mrs. Boehm will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday and after 1:00 p.m. Sunday where a Rosary will be said at 5:30 Sunday evening, followed by family and friends visitation at 6:00. CEMETERY: Colony Cemetery, in Colony, Kansas. Family will meet with friends following the burial at Colony City Hall at 1:00 p.m. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorial contributions to Alzheimer’s Association, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
