Willard E. Anderson, age 84, of Ottawa, Kansas, died Tuesday, September 1, 2009, at Baldwin Care Center in Baldwin City, Kansas. He was born on Monday, May 11, 1925, in Franklin County, Kansas. He was the son of Frank F. and Gladys May (Caple) Anderson. Except for living in Miami County several years, Willard lived most of his life in Franklin County. Willard graduated from Ottawa High School. From 1951 to July of 1958, he worked at Ottawa Steel. He then became a self-employed auto mechanic, retiring June 1, 1990. He served in the United States Army during World War II. MARRIAGE: On September 26, 1949, Willard was united in marriage with Wanda Lorraine Baker in Garnett, Kansas. She preceded him in death on April 16, 2006. He is survived by: Son-Jay B. Anderson, Sr. & his wife, Anne, of Wellsville, Kansas Grandson-Jay B. Anderson, Jr. of Wellsville, Kansas Sister-T. Virginia Jones of Centropolis, Kansas He is precededed in death by his: Wife-Wanda Lorraine (Baker) Anderson Father-Frank F. Anderson Mother-Gladys May (Caple) Anderson SERVICES: Graveside services will be held at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Ottawa at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2009. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mr. Anderson after 1:00 p.m. Friday at the Dengel & Son Mortuary, where the family will meet with friends from 7:00 to 8:00 Friday evening. CEMETERY: Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Ottawa, Kansas. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorial contributions to Bea Martin Peck Animal Shelter, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
