Willa M. (Doty) Green, 90, of Ottawa, Kansas, died Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Ottawa Retirement Village. Cremation is planned. Graveside Services and Inurnment will be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona, Kansas. Willa was born on Tuesday, July 10, 1923 in Harris, Kansas. She was the daughter of Jay L. and Bessie M. (Bumps) Doty. She moved at the age of three years with her family to the Rosemont Community northwest of Williamsburg, Kansas, to Quenemo, Kansas in 1950 and into Ottawa in the year 2000. Willa attended South Tequa School and Williamsburg School. She was a homemaker and worked thirteen years in area nursing homes, retiring in 1979. In her early years she attended the Rosemont Methodist Church and was a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Ottawa for more than sixty years, serving a year as Noble Grand; Senior Citizens of Quenemo and a former member of Extension Homemakers Unit, Sunflower Club, Willing Workers, and United Methodist Women of the United Methodist Church. On February 28, 1950 Willa was united in marriage with John O. Green. He preceded her in death on February 18, 1980. She is survived by her four daughters, Janice Green of Ottawa, Kansas; Linda Becker and husband Don of Denver, Colorado; Sandra Brittingham and husband Max of Pomona, Kansas; and Gail Moehlman and husband Floyd of Pomona, Kansas; brother, Jay Lyle Doty of Quenemo, Kansas; five granddaughters; eight grandsons and seven great grandchildren. Willa is preceded in death by her husband John; parents, Jay and Bessie Doty and seven sisters, Frances Reiner, Lois Cooley, Doris Caple, Phylliss Boydston, Patricia Wiggins, Barbara Doty and Arlene Grimm; granddaughter, Melissa Brittingham and son-in-law, Richard “Shorty” Spring. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Ottawa Nazarene Church Building Fund c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
