Wayne Littleton Edwards

Wayne L. Edwards, 67, of Greeley, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at the Olathe Hospice House. Cremation is planned. Family will meet with friends from 12:30 P.M. to 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at Dengel & Son Mortuary and then process to Hope Cemetery for burial. Wayne was born Tuesday, November 29, 1949, in Ottawa, Kansas, the son of Henry W. L. and Ida Mae (Bivens) Edwards. He was raised and was a longtime resident of Ottawa moving to Lawrence. In the last year, Wayne returned to the Ottawa/Greeley area. Wayne graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1969. He was a star athlete in high school track setting many records and earning 7 medals. Survivors include his three children, Florence “DeeDee” Catuska and husband Erik of Ottawa, Angela Mitchell and husband Henry III of Melvern, and Brandi Bivens of Greeley; two brothers, Ronald W. Edwards of Lenexa and Ted C. Edwards and wife Lila of Ottawa; three sisters, Doris Jean Edwards of Lawrence, Hazel M. Edwards of Ottawa and Sandra R. Edwards of Kansas; and nine grandchildren, Brittany Edwards, Korren Catuska, Henry Mitchell, IV, Marquise Mitchell, Dreysen Mitchell, Nahlia Mitchell, Xavior Bond, Favian Johnson, and Arianna Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Henry W. L. Edwards, Jr.; sister, Shirley Moten; and stepmother, Florence Edwards. He was employed for 20 years as a laborer with the Municipal Water Treatment Plant for the City of Lawrence. Wayne enjoyed spending time with his family, having cookouts, playing games, cards, dice and Dominoes, as well as photography. He was a talented artist and enjoyed the KC Chiefs and KU basketball.
