Wayne L. New

Wayne L. New, 82, of Princeton, Kansas, passed away Friday, February 12, 2016, at Ransom Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, February 17, 2016, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Family will meet with friends one hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Princeton Cemetery, Princeton, Kansas. Wayne was born Monday, August 7, 1933, in Homewood, Kansas, the son of George and Hazel (Adams) New. He was a near lifelong Williamsburg and Princeton resident. He graduated from Williamsburg High School with the class of 1951, lettering in track and football. Wayne served in the United States Army from October 1955 to June 1956. Wayne was united in marriage with Marynell Rathjen April 5, 1957, in Miami, Oklahoma. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his three children, Cheryl Floyd and husband Lonnie of Overland Park, Steve New and wife Penny of Ottawa, and James New of Springfield, Missouri; five grandchildren, Cody New and wife LaDonna Weien, Nicholas New, Tyler New, Abby Robertson and husband Masen, and Lanson Floyd and wife Leslie; and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Marvin, Fred, and George New, Jr. Wayne was a lifelong self-employed plumber/farmer. He owned and operated New Plumbing and Electric of Williamsburg. He was a member of the Williamsburg United Methodist Church. Wayne was also a member of the Anchor Masonic Lodge 224, Sadana Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 194, and was the sexton and board member of Mount Hope Cemetery, all of Williamsburg. Wayne enjoyed fishing, Sudoku puzzles, watching old westerns, deer and turkey hunting.
