Wayne Callo Buford , age 61, Louisburg, KS passed away May 4, 2017 at KU Medical Center. Wayne was born December 1, 1955 in Livingston, Tex. the son of William Callo Buford and Elizabeth Ann Scott Buford. As the son of a military officer, he attended primary schools in Ft. Polk, LA, Ft. Rucker, AL, and Ft. Benning, GA. He attended secondary schools at Tarkington, TX, Schwabisch Hall, Germany, Ft. Monmouth, N.J., Ft. Leavenworth, KS, and then moved to Germany again, graduating from Frankfurt American High School in 1973. He was baptized into the faith on May 1, 1988 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Farley, MO. Wayne was a man of diverse interests and talents. He soloed his first airplane at age 16 with the Ft. Monmouth Flying Club, raced road motorcycles at the Nurnburgring in Germany, and raced dirt bikes everywhere he lived. An avid photographer, he even had his own darkroom set up to process black and white film while in high school. He was active in many sports, excelling in basketball, and was a talented sharpshooter. His love of animals started at an early age, and his constant companion growing up was his cocker spaniel, Cindy. Wayne enjoyed a long career in public service, first as a firefighter and EMT, and later as a police officer, serving in his first position as a patrolman in Fredonia, KS. He later joined the police department in Lansing, KS, then began work with police dogs. He was a member of the Mid-Missouri Drug Task Force, was involved in search and rescue, and recovery operations during Hurricane Katrina. He later taught search operations to members of the Kosovo Army and police forces. Wayne also enjoyed a successful career in sales, working for Western Associates, Marion, KS in advertising specialty sales, and for the motorcycle division of BMW North America. He was preceded in death by his father, William Callo Buford, an aunt, Lorraine Wright, and a cousin, Chris Buford. He is survived by wife, Dana Weber and children, Brent Weber, Becca Weber and husband Kyle with Kane, Knox, and Kalix, grandsons. Also survived by his mother, Elizabeth Ann Hill and sister, Lisa Keefe, nieces Jennifer Keefe and Rachel Merryman, and a great-nephew, Colton Merryman. He is also survived by Ted Buford and Ron Buford, uncles, Jeannine Kuhnell, Julienne Sheffield, Angela Wright, Corbett Buford, Natalie Buford-Young and Greg Buford, cousins.
