Waunita Marion Riemer was born August 10, 1940, at Ottawa, in Franklin County, Kansas. She was the daughter of Thomas Marion Williams and Beulah (Bainer) Page. With the exception of traveling with her husband during his military career, Waunita made her home in Ottawa, until her death Friday, September 3, 2004, at the age of sixty-four years. Waunita attended Ottawa High School with the class of 1958. She later graduated from Cosmetology School of Topeka, Kansas. In the 1960's to the 1970's, she was a beautician at the Beauty Land Beauty Shop in Ottawa. From the late 1980's to the late 1990's, she worked for U.S.D. 290 in food service at the Ottawa Middle School and, in the late 1990's to the present, she sold Tupperware. Waunita was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church; Warren Black Post #60, American Legion; Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5901 Auxiliary; Sunflower Piecemakers; and former member of the Ottawa Nightcrawlers, all of Ottawa. She enjoyed her Tupperware business and visiting with her many friends. She also enjoyed the outdoors, working in her yard, gardening, caring for her flowers, and camping. Waunita was an excellent cook and used ideas from T.V. cooking shows for many of the meals she prepared. She also enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and quilting. Waunita's greatest enjoyment, however, came from her family and grandchildren, all of whom she dearly loved. On June 18, 1960, Waunita was united in marriage with Gary Wayne Riemer at Garnett, Kansas. He preceded her in death on August 13, 1989. She is also preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, Floyd Williams; and brothers, Dwight Williams and Gayle Dean Page. Mrs. Riemer is survived by two sons, Tom Riemer and his wife, Katie, of Ottawa, Chancy Riemer and his wife, Deloris, of Ottawa; daughter, Melissa Riemer of Ottawa; two sisters, Wanda Riggles and her husband, Jack, of Topeka, Pattie Wadkins and her husband, Gary, of Ottawa; and, four grandchildren, Dalton Riemer, Hailee Riemer, Nikolas Riemer, and Brooklyn Riemer, all of Ottawa.
