Warren E. Bud Milton, age 87, of Ottawa, Kansas, died Monday, January 3, 2011. He was born on Wednesday, June 13, 1923, in Parker, Kansas, the son of John A. and Tessie (Adams) Milton. He was a lifelong resident of Ottawa. Bud graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1941. Following military service, he started farming in the 1940’s. In the late 1940’s to 1951, he was a self-employed auto mechanic. From 1951 until his retirement in 1986, Bud was an electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #226 of Topeka. He worked for several area companies including Norris Brothers Electrical of Lawrence, Kansas. Bud served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army from 1944 to 1946 during World War II. His tour of duty included the European Theater. He was a member of Aerie Lodge #2700, Fraternal Order of Eagles of Ottawa; Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #852 of Lawrence; Ottawa Men’s Bowling Association; and REACT (Radio Emergency Associated Communications Team) CB radio club. On Saturday, December 4, 1948, Bud was united in marriage with Marjorie E. Brumley in Olathe, Kansas. She survives of their home. Survivors include:Wife-Marjorie E. (Brumley) Milton of the home Son-Roger Milton and his wife, Susan, of Hoxie, Kansas Daughter-Marsha Alexander and her husband, Mike, of Pomona, Kansas Daughter-Margaret “Maggie” Thielman of Ottawa, Kansas Son-Randy Milton and his wife, Debi, of Ottawa, Kansas Grandchildren-Eleven Gt.Grandchildren-Thirteen Gt.Gt.Grandchildren-One He is preceded in death by his parents,John A. and Tessie Milton, brother,Truman Milton, sister,Fern Cates, brother,John K. Milton, brother,Floyd Milton, and granddaughter,Jessica Milton. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2011. IN STATE: Mr. Milton will lie in state after 9:00 a.m. Friday at the Dengel & Son Mortuary, where the family will meet with friends from 7:00 to 8:00 Friday evening. CEMETERY: Evergreen Mound in Franklin County, Kansas, with military honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5901 of Ottawa.
