Waneta Imogene (Phillips) Dixon passed away February 16, 2013 at Life Care Center of Osawatomie, Kansas. She was 93 years old. Waneta was born April 18, 1919 on a farm near Perry, Iowa to Joseph Clinton Phillips and Ethel Francis Phillips, the seventh of eight children. She graduated in 1938 from Perry High School, married Roscoe Dixon on September 12, 1946 and lived in Scranton, Iowa for 13 years before moving to Jefferson, Iowa in 1971. She attended the First Baptist Church in Jefferson, was a Cub Scout Den mother for her son, Charles, while he attended Scranton Grade School. She liked camping, quilting, crocheting and cooking. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2002; her father and mother; four brothers Joe, Roy, Clarence, and Glenn; and three sisters Mae Johnson, Ethel Kever, and Louise Robbins. Waneta is survived by her son Charles Dixon and his wife Mary; three grandchildren Michael Dixon and his wife Jeanne-marie, Stephanie Smith and Richard Ussary; and 8 great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.
