Wanda R. Altic, 90, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Monday, March 14, 2016, at Ransom Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 A.M., Friday, March 18, 2016, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Family will meet with friends from 6:00 PM. to 7:00 P.M., Thursday, March 17, 2016, at the mortuary. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Centropolis, Kansas. Wanda was born Friday, March 27, 1925, in Ottawa, the daughter of Levi Gibson and Lennie Bell (Henderson) Mealman. She was a lifelong Franklin County resident, moving into Ottawa in 1953 from the Centropolis area. She attended Ottawa High School with the class of 1943. Wanda was united in marriage with Orren Altic August 21, 1940, at Pleasant Grove, Kansas. He preceded her in death on December 27, 2015. She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Orrlea Dian Downey; brothers, Kenny Mealman and Robert Mealman; and half sister, Arcile “Pat” Donaldson. She is survived by daughters, Donna Bell Smith of Topeka, Kansas and Connie Louise Morris and husband Pat of Maricopa, Arizona; sons, David Lee Altic and wife Shirley of Ottawa, Michael Orren Altic and wife Debbie of Ottawa and Randy Lynn Altic and wife Jayne of Ottawa; sister, Jewell Chapman of Ottawa; sister-in-law, Thelma Mealman of Jacksonville, Florida; sixteen grandchildren, thirty-seven great grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. Wanda was not only a devoted homemaker she was also employed as a cook for many years at Ransom Memorial Hospital and Ottawa University. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Wanda enjoyed embroidery, baking, cooking, watching westerns, and was an avid KU basketball fan. She also enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Wanda will be deeply missed and remain in the hearts and thoughts of her family and friends forever. The family suggests memorial contributions to Franklin County Cancer Foundation and the American Heart Association c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
