Wanda Mae Pederson, age 91, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2020, at AdventHealth Ottawa. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 12, 2020, at Highland Cemetery. Wanda was born December 11, 1928 in Medford, Oklahoma, the daughter of Thomas Y. and Ruby L. (Mayes) Pederson. She was a lifelong Ottawa resident, graduating from Ottawa High School with the class of 1946. In the late 1940’s Wanda was employed at the Franklin County Courthouse in Vehicle Registration. For 30 years she worked at the Federated Land Bank as an office assistant doing clerical work. In the 1980’s Wanda was the secretary at Trinity United Methodist Church and for several years she was a caregiver for her parents. Wanda was an active member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and taught Sunday school. She enjoyed gardening, raising chickens, and liked being on the farm. Family gatherings were always special and something the whole family looked forward to. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Tomalea Pederson, Gwendola Chandler, and Deloris Davidson, and nephew Shon Showalter. Survivors include two sisters, Joyce (Dick) Salsbury of Surprise, Arizona, and Inger (Ron) Showalter of Ottawa; five nieces, Sheri Ellwood, Laurie Davidson, Stacy Bester, Marlo Showalter, and Amber Herron; two nephews, Cody Showalter and Dana Salsbury; many great nieces and nephews; and one great-great nephew. The family suggests memorial contributions to Trinity United Methodist Church c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
