W. Carl Wittenbrink, age 95, of Osawatomie, Kansas, died April 17, 2013. Carl was born January 3, 1918 in Bronaugh, Missouri. He was the son of Herman and Blanche (Mabry) Wittenbrink. Carl was united in marriage to Marian Wilkins on June 7, 1941 at Nevada, Missouri. They became the parents of two children. Carl served his country with the United States Navy during World War II. He entered the Navy on April 10, 1943 and was honorably discharged on November 26, 1945. Carl worked at the Osawatomie State Hospital for 30 years. He began his employment there in 1952 as a baker and retired in 1982 as an auto mechanic. He was a member of the Osawatomie First United Methodist Church, Osage Valley Masonic Lodge #24 AF&AM, Scottish Rite, Abdallah Shrine, and Hanlin Kelly VFW in Osawatomie. He was preceded in death by his wife Marian who died in 2001 and his parents. He is survived his son Bill Wittenbrink of rural Osawatomie; his daughter Judith McDowell Birchard of Lane; one brother Lee Wittenbrink of Washington State; 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; other relatives and friends.
