Vivian I. Gorman, age 88, of Osawatomie, Kansas, passed away May 25, 2020 at Life Care Center of Osawatomie. Vivian was born November 25, 1931, at Oswego, Kansas, the daughter of Elmer “Peck” and Alma (Burrows) Vance. She grew up in Oswego and graduated from Oswego High School in 1949. She attended Evangel College in Springfield, Missouri. Vivian and Lester Gorman were united in marriage on August 7, 1960 at Oswego, Kansas. They made their home in Hammond, Indiana until 1964 when they moved back to Oswego. It was while they were living in Hammond that their first child was born Michael. Their second child, Lori, was born when they lived in Oswego. In March of 1974 they moved from Oswego to LaCygne. Vivian worked for Kansas City Power and Light as an administrative secretary to the plant manager from 1979 until retiring in 1994. First and foremost, Vivian loved time spent with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed ceramics, golfing and cooking. Her family was her life. She was preceded in death by her husband Lester who died December 2, 2013, her parents, her sister June Vance, and two brothers Amos and Lonnie Vance. She is survived by her son Mike and his wife Susan Gorman of Osawatomie; her daughter Lori Gorman of Kansas City, Missouri; her grandchildren Jordan (Zac) Miller and Vance Gorman; two great grandchildren Claire and Saylor; her brother Donnie (Mary Ellen) Vance of Carl Junction, Missouri; many other relatives and friends. Memorials are to the Miami County Medical Center Auxiliary and can be sent c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary-Crematory, 305 N. Pearl St., Paola, KS, 66071. Private graveside service at Oswego Cemetery on Thursday, May 28, 2020. Family and friends are encouraged to post their memories and condolences on Vivian's tribute wall.
