Vivian Norton, 88, of Ottawa, Kansas died on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 in Ottawa, Kansas. She was born on Tuesday, June 22, 1920, in Concordia, Kansas, the daughter of Russell Gieber and Flossie (Carver) Gieber. She lived in Quenemo, Overbrook, Carbondale, Ottawa, and Kansas City, Kansas before returning to Ottawa in 1947. Vivian attended school in Overbrook and Quenemo. She was a seamstress at H.D. Lee in the 1960’s. From the mid 60’s to 1972 she worked with her husband for Todd Mobile Homes. In the 1980’s, she was Franklin and Osage County Coordinator for E.C.K.A.N. In 1990, she worked for job services and the Green Thumb program for S.R.S., retiring in 2000 at the age of 80. She was a member of VFW Memorial Post #5901 Auxiliary, Aerie Lodge #2700 Fraternal Order of Eagles, and Calvary Baptist Church, all of Ottawa. On September 1, 1937, Vivian was united in marriage with Charles A. “Charlie” Norton, Sr. in Ottawa, Kansas. He preceded her in death on August 11, 1972. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mrs. Norton at the Dengel & Son Mortuary from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday where the family will meet with friends 4 to 5 Sunday afternoon.
