Viriginia Thomas

Virginia Elizabeth Thomas, age 91, of Paola, KS passed away August 10 at the North Point Nursing Center in Paola, KS. There will be a visitation on Thursday, August 13 from 11:00am to 1:00pm in the Penwell-Gabel Paola Chapel, followed by graveside services preformed by Rev. Kirk Johnston at 2:00pm at the Paola Cemetery. Virginia was born on August 18, 1917 in Gardner, KS to Roy E. and Elizabeth Donavan Wilson. The family moved to Paola in 1923. Her father, Roy Wilson, founded the Wilson and Son Funeral Home. Virginia graduated from Paola High School. She married Donald R. Thomas on May 27, 1942. They were married 28 years and later divorced. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Charles Wilson, a sister Betty Wilson Mallon, and her ex-husband Don Thomas. Virginia was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Paola. Her working career included the Miami County Welfare office, Shawver and Shawver Law office, and Kansas City Power and Light. She had also assisted her parents in the Wilson and Son funeral business when needed. Survivors are her daughter Donna Thomas Kuhn of Loveland, CO; her son Randy Thomas and his wife Marita of Springfield, MO; grandchildren Robin Kuhn Schallenberger and her husband Scott of Wellsville, UT; Nancy Thomas Gagnebin and her husband Darin of Paola, KS; Andrew Thomas of Denver, CO; Cpt. Aaron Thomas and his wife Jami of Ft. Sill, OK; and 8 great-grandchildren. Paola Cemetery , Paola KS.
