Virginia M. Toumberlin, 88, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Monday, September 23, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Family will meet with friends 5:30-7:30pm, Monday, September 30, 2024 at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa.
Cremation is planned with a private family graveside at a later date.
Virginia was born Saturday, May 23, 1936 at Lawrence, Kansas, the daughter of Carl E. and Mary H. (Mott) Axline.
She was a longtime Ottawa resident.
Virginia attended school in Lawrence, Kansas.
She was united in marriage with Delbert E. Toumberlin June 5, 1953 at Lawrence, Kansas. He preceded her in death on August 1, 1984.
Along with her husband Delbert, she was also preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Mary Axline; sons, Teddy Toumberline and Charlie Toumberlin; daughter Linda Fowler; and brother, Roy Axline.
Survivors include her children, Neita (Richard) Marvin of Ottawa, Reita (Roy) Welton of Ottawa, Peggy (Jim) Mason of Uniontown, Kansas, Richard Toumberlin and Sherry Good of Lennox, South Dakota, Cindy (Lance) Bell of Joplin, Missouri; twenty-two grandchildren; forty-five great grandchildren and twelve great-great grandchildren.
Virginia was a school bus driver and worked in the kitchen for two years at USD 290 and twenty years for USD 287, retiring in 2008.
She was a Life Member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5901 Auxiliary in Ottawa.
She loved bowling, playing Bunko, cards, Bingo, and playing the slots at casinos.
