Virginia Lucille Bowman age 86 of Paola passed away Thursday March 6th at the North Point Nursing Home in Paola, Funeral Service Tues March 11, at 11:00AM visitation Monday 6 to 8 PM at the Penwell-Gabel Paola Chapel 305 N. Pearl Paola, Kansas 66071,in Lou of flowers memorials may be made to Miami County Quilters Guild and or the Paola United Methodist Church in care of the Funeral Home. To leave condolences on line go to Penwell-Gabel .com. Lucille was born on June 26, 1921 in rural Miami County, Kansas, to Louis E. and Viola G. Endecott McDonald. She graduated for Paola High School in 1940. On June 7, 1942 she was united in marriage to W.C."Bud" Bowman. They made their home in Paola their entire married life. Lucille worked for the Selective Service Office during the WWII. Years and then for the Miami County Publishing Company. After retirement Lucille had more time to spend with family and friends and on her two favorite pastimes, gardening, and quilting. Lucille and her husband Bud were well known in the community for their vegetable garden. Lucille was an avid quilter and won numerous awards for her quilts. She also enjoyed traveling and visiting with her two grandsons, Matthew and Daniel, and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and infant sister. Surviving is her daughter Velinda L. Sutton and husband Dick of Sterling, VA., her two grandson Matthew and Daniel and two great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
