Virginia Lee Pine

Virginia L. Pine, 69, of Princeton, Kansas, passed away at her home on Saturday, March 12, 2022. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, March 18, 2022, at Princeton Christian Church, 514 Grove St., Princeton, 66078. Family will meet with friends from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Thursday, March 17th, at the church. Inurnment Princeton Cemetery, Princeton. Virginia was born December 12, 1952, at Garnett, Kansas, the daughter of Frank and Opal (Serene) Crone. She grew up in Garnett, living most of her life in Princeton. She graduated from Garnett High School with the Class of 1970 and continued her education attending Allen County Community College. On March 1, 1973, Virginia was united in marriage to Roy G. Pine in Garnett, Kansas. He preceded her in death on March 29, 2018. Virginia was employed at C.F. Bus Service as a school bus driver in Richmond, from 1975 to 1990; Knight Oil as a bookkeeper in Princeton, from the early 1980’s to 1990; Ottawa University Endowment Department from 1990 until retiring in 2017. She was also the City Clerk in Princeton for several years. She was an active member of the Princeton Christian Church and the Winter Center serving as executive board member and secretary. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, knitting, crocheting, scrapbooking and crafting. Spending time with family, friends and grandchildren’s activities were very important. She was also preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include two daughters, Janell Pine of Parker, and Jessica Johnston (Bryan) of Garnett; sister Nola Moore of Ottawa; six grandchildren, Roy Steven Dial (Ashley), Trevor Johnston, Abby Johnston, Bo Johnston, Samantha Summers (Jesse), and Seth Aguirre; great grandson Gunner Dial. The family suggests memorial contributions to Princeton Christian Church or Winter Center for Restorative Justice c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
