Virginia Elizabeth Magers, 98, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at Ransom Memorial Hospital, Ottawa, Kansas. Graveside services and inurnment will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, Franklin County, Kansas, 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 15, 2014. Virginia was born on October 6, 1915 in Kansas City, Kansas, the daughter of Milo B. and Crilla Belle (Lutton) Farris. Virginia has lived in Ottawa since 1990, moving here from Memphis, Tennessee, where she lived for twelve years. She previously lived in Kansas City, Kansas from 1958-1963 and the Chicago area from 1963-1978. She grew up in Franklin County and Pomona area and attended Pomona High School. Virginia was united in marriage with Earl Blair in the early 1940s and they later divorced. On December 11, 1947, she was united in marriage with Luther Magers at Ottawa, Kansas. He preceded her in death on May 4, 1997. Survivors include one son, Malcolm Blair and his wife, Judy of Ellensburg, Washington; two daughters, Judith Iannone and her husband, Bob of Roseburg, Oregon, Patricia Phillips of Ottawa, Kansas; five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband, Luther Magers; two brothers, John Farris and Dr. Merle Farris; two sisters, Bernice Spaulding and Wilda Wright; Granddaughter, Karen Shaw and Great Grandson, Shaun Shaw. From 1967-1973 she held several positions with the Joliet Ammunition Company of Joliet, Illinois. She also worked at Sunflower Ammunition Plant of Desoto, Kansas for four years, retiring in 1977.
