Violet E. Bristow

Violet Eartha (Meisel) Bristow, 94, of Paola, Kansas passed away Sunday, July 14, 2013 at North Point Nursing Facility. Violet was born August 12, 1918 in Waverly, Indiana to Alfred Edward and Margaret Pearl Hargrove Meisel. She moved to Kansas when she was 4 years old. She attended school at Maple Grove in Wellsville, KS through the 8th grade. She was married to Leo J. Bristow on January 23, 1936 and they were blessed with 70 years of marriage before he passed. They lived all their married life in Miami County, Kansas. Violet worked along side Leo for many years, farming, milking dairy cattle, driving milk trucks, grain trucks and all types of farm equipment. She was known for her excellent cooking and baking and many farm and hay hands had the privilege of enjoying her meals. Violet and Leo enjoyed traveling south for the winter to Edinburg and Casa Del Valle in Alamo, Texas for many years. Violet was an active member of Plum Creek Methodist Church. She was a member of the Green Valley Social Club and the Red Hat Club. She loved her yard and flowers, she also quilted, did embroidery and was an accomplished seamstress. She was preceded in death by Leo, her husband of 71 years, her parents, 5 brothers, Orville Russell, Edward Walter, Arthur Alfred, Max Herbert, Lucky Lindy Leroy and 1 sister Virginia Lee, plus a life time family friend Eli Bodine. She leaves behind a sister-in-law, Dorothy Meisel of Warsaw, MO, nephews and nieces that will miss her, Fred & Linda Meisel, LaCygne, KS, Bill & Sherry Snyder, Paola, KS, Dennis Meisel, Warsaw, MO, Mark Meisel, Wichita, Forrest and Linda Combs, Lebo, KS, and Preston Meisel of Princeton, KS, 15 great nieces and nephews, and 22 great-great nieces and nephews.
