Vincent T. Cahill, age 86, of Ottawa, Kansas, died Thursday, August 20, 2009, at Good Samaritan Center in Olathe, Kansas. He was born on Saturday, July 7, 1923, in Dorchester, Massachusetts. He was the son of John and Mary (Fogerty) Cahill. He has lived in Ottawa since 1996, moving here from Lawrence, Kansas. He had previously lived in Willingboro, New Jersey from 1966 to 1981 and Westhampton, New Jersey from 1981 to 1992. Prior to his military career, Vincent served three years in the Civilian Conservation Corps during the late 1930’s. Following his military career, he worked in shipping and receiving for the Inductotherm Company of West Hampton, New Jersey, from the late 1960’s to the early 1970’s. For twenty years, he performed carpentry maintenance and repair for March Realty of Willingboro, New Jersey. Over the years, he was often called upon to do many jobs of repair and maintenance for the people of Willingboro. Mr. Cahill served in the United States Army for twenty-four and one-half years obtaining the rank of Sgt. 1st Class. During World War II, he served in the European Theater. Over his military career, he was stationed in many locations including Germany, Italy, Japan and Iceland. He was a member of the Corpus Christi Catholic Church of Willingboro, New Jersey and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4914 of Willingboro. On December 26, 1953, Vincent was united in marriage with Robin Coughlan in Bronx, New York. She survives of their home. He is survived by: Wife-Robin Cahill of their home; Son-Glen Cahill and his wife Chris of Ottawa; Son-Dennis Cahill of Ottawa; Son-Kenneth Cahill of Dallas, Texas; Six - Grandchildren; Sister-Pholimena Bresnahan of Brockton, Massachusetts; Numerous -Nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Father-John Cahill; Mother-Mary Cahill; Infant Daughter-Kathleen Cahill; Brother-John Cahill; Brother-George Cahill; Brother-Edward Cahill; Sister-Alice Poznyz. SERVICES: Military Services are planned for a later date at the Beverly National Cemetery, Beverly, New Jersey. CEMETERY: Beverly National Cemetery in Beverly, New Jersey.
