Vesta Coleman Walters, age 88, of Ottawa, Kan., died Friday, June 14, 2002, at Richmond Care Center in Richmond, Kan. Vesta`s family moved to Richmond when she was six years old, and she moved to Ottawa in 1950. She graduated from Richmond High School with the class of 1933. Vesta Coleman Walters was born May 30, 1914, at Harris, Kansas. She was the daughter of Amherst and Emma Jane (Coleman) Milliman. When Vesta was six years old, her family moved to Richmond, Kansas. In 1950, she moved to Ottawa, in Franklin County, Kansas, where she made her home until her death Friday, June 14, 2002, at the age of eighty-eight years. She graduated from Richmond High School with the class of 1933. For thirty-two years, she worked as a cashier for the A & P Grocery in Ottawa, retiring in 1976. Vesta greatly enjoyed her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved traveling and going on vacations with her grandchildren. One of her favorite T.V. shows was 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire'. In past years, she enjoyed reading and did cross-stitch and latch-hook work, creating many beautiful keepsakes for her family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Betty Williamson and her husband, Bill, of Princeton, Kansas; sister, Mary Shephard of Kansas City, Missouri; three granddaughters, Rhonda Smith and her husband, Dave, of Ottawa, Lisa Wingate and her husband, Bill, of Ottawa, Jennifer Mark and her husband, Joe, of LaCygne, Kansas; three great-grandsons, Justin Smith, Ryan Smith, Kyle Smith, all of Ottawa; and, many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Minnie Lankard, Dorothy Campbell; and, brother, Amherst Milliman, Jr. In State: Mrs. Walters will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary from 5:00 PM Sunday to service hour, where the family will meet with friends from 7 to 8 Monday Evening. Cemetery: Richmond Cemetery, Richmond, Kansas Memorials: The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association or the Franklin County Cancer Foundation c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
