Vern Rueben Ritchal

Vern Rueben Ritchal was born February 24, 1911, at Greeley, Kansas. He was the son of James and Lucy (Reheard) Ritchal. He moved to rural Ottawa in the 1930's, where he made his home until his death Wednesday, June 19, 2002, at the age of ninety-one years. Mr. Ritchal enjoyed his lifelong career of dairy farming. He enjoyed the outdoors and working with wood, creating numerous items for his family and friends. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. On December 7, 1939, Vern was united in marriage with Charlotte Cloe Bacon at Lawrence, Kansas. She preceded him in death on October 8, 1996. He is also preceded in death by his parents and sister, Myrtle Anderson. He is survived by his daughter, Karen Graham and her husband, Frank, of Wichita, Kansas; granddaughter, Carmen Harvey of Wichita; grandson, Kevin Graham of Wichita; and, two great-grandsons, Zachary Graham and Wade McCluer, both of Wichita. SERVICES: Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2002, at Peoria Cemetery, Franklin County, Kansas. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Rev. LeRoy Rayson. IN STATE: Mr. Ritchal will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 9:00 a.m. Friday to the service hour. CEMETERY: Peoria Cemetery, Franklin County, Kansas.
