Valdean "Val" J. Putzier

Valdean J. Putzier “Val”, age 83, of Paola, Kansas, passed away June 17, 2017 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Olathe. He was surrounded by his family. Born on December 16, 1933 in Elkader, Iowa, he was the son of the late Orville and Marie (Bahls) Putzier. Val served 7 years in the Navy and worked 35+ years for the FAA as an air traffic controller. He enjoyed barbershop music, hunting, fishing, farming, woodworking and spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Janet (Jan); and their four children; Mike and Jill Putzier of Shawnee, Toni and Mark Bradley of Basehor, Debbie and Brian Moody of Wichita, and Suzan and Mike Beran of Shawnee; 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Myra Millage, and his brother Orville Putzier, Jr. Services will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 501 E. Chippewa Street, Paola, Kansas. Rosary at 6:00 pm and visitation from 6:30-8:00 pm on Tuesday, June 20, 2017; Funeral mass will be on Wednesday, June 21 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 311 and Baptiste Drive. Memorial contributions can be sent to Atchison Valley Hope; New Harmony Handful, and Paola Holy Trinity Catholic School.
