Twila Jayne Sims Frye, 73, of Paola, Kansas passed away Monday, February 22, 2010 at Olathe Medical Center. She was born east of Paola on the Agnes Williams farm on March 11, 1936, the only child of Charlie Louis and Thelma Pearl Hollinger Sims. Twila grew up and lived in the Paola area all of her life; she started school at Chesbro school, attended Hillsdale and Vickers schools, and graduated from Paola High School in 1954. Shortly after graduation, Twila married Robert G. Frye on October 10, 1954 at the First Lutheran Church in Paola. They became the parents of two children; James and Kynda. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at the First Lutheran Church in Paola. While in high school, she worked at the Tommy McCallens Caf" and after her marriage, was employed for a short time at Shawnee Sportswear factory. She was a stay-at-home mom until her children were in school, she then started working for the USD 368 Food Service in September 1975 and worked there until retiring in May 1998 after 23 years of service. Twila was also a caregiver for her husband and elderly mother. She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband, Bob, on August 29, 2007. She is survived by her children; son, James Frye of Paola, Kansas; daughter, Kynda Harshman and husband Bruce of Osawatomie, Kansas; special friend, Leonard Windler of Paola; 2 grandchildren, Heather Scheffer and Brandon Frye of Paola; and one great-grandson, Austin Lee Scheffer. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Lutheran Church.
