Troy David Johns, age 30, of Osawatomie, KS, died in a car accident east of Paola early Thursday morning, December 17th, 2009. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 22, at Penwell-Gabel Paola Chapel in Paola, KS, with burial following at the Osawatomie Cemetery in Osawatomie, KS. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, December 21, at the funeral home. The son of Jack David and Florence Irene (Renner) Johns, Troy was born on April 17, 1979, in Paola, KS. Troy grew up and attended school in the Osawatomie area with siblings, Misty, 34, of Edgerton, KS; Ericka, 22, of Paola; Weston, 20, of Osawatomie; and his girlfriend Bridgette Davis, of Osawatomie. Troy traveled around the country as a carpenter, learning many trades of work and developing a strong work ethic. Working on his truck and his Mustang gave him much pride. There was nothing he couldn't fix and he liked the challenge. He enjoyed hunting, playing pool, and being with his friends and girlfriend, but his greatest joy revolved around fishing. Catching paddlefish were his prize trophies and he loved to flaunt it. Troy's friendship was a catch itself and even though his catches were huge, it will never compare to the love and compassion of his siblings. No matter what life threw at Troy, he always had a solution. Troy would speak his mind and it spiced up his life. Troy was preceded in death by his grandparents, Floyd Wesley Renner and Edith Irene Renner, and Derwood Franklin Johns and Edith Maxine Johns. Troy is survived by his parents, Jack and Florence of the home; sisters, Misty Dawn and Ericka Jo; brother, Weston Skyler; and girlfriend, Bridgette Katherine. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Florence Johns for the Troy Johns Memorial Fund. To leave a special message for the family online, visit www.PenwellGabelPaola.com.
