Trevor Wayne Riley, 53, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away peacefully surrounded by friends and family at Olathe Medical Center on Sunday, April 10, 2022. Cremation is planned with a Celebration of Life to be held from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Friday, April 22, 2022, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 401 W. 13th, Ottawa, with military honors. The family will also remember Trevor from 5:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M., Saturday, April 23, 2022, at Lucy’s Bar & Grill, 19394 KS Hwy 152, La Cygne, Kansas 66040. Trevor was born October 13, 1968, in Sedan, Kansas, the son of Steve Riley and Shirlene Taylor. He lived most of his life in Ottawa, also living in Osawatomie and La Cygne, Kansas. He graduated from Ottawa High School with the Class of 1987. When he was just 18, Trevor decided to join the United States Marine Corps and was stationed at base camp Pendleton in San Diego, California. Trevor spent time abroad in Yokosuka, Japan. After getting medically discharged he met Gena Servais, who he soon married in 1991. Trevor and Gena chose to settle in the town of Emporia. After moving to Emporia, Trevor attended classes at Emporia State University. He later attended and graduated from DeVry University with a bachelor's degree in network engineering in 2004. He worked at Dish Network, ScriptPro and Peoples Telecommunications. Trevor had a passion for collecting guns, shooting ranges, coaching baseball and softball, traveling, and spending time with his family. He is preceded in death by his sister Shannon Riley; stepfather Ed Taylor; and grandmother Joelene Fanning. Survivors include his mother Shirlene Taylor of Ottawa; father Steve (Shari) Riley of Warsaw, Missouri; three children, Trenton Riley (Kali) of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Paige Riley (Marc Montgomery) of Shawnee, Kansas, and Allisun Riley (Noah Cole) of Emporia, Kansas; half sister Leslie Riley (Rich Rippey) of Overland Park, Kansas, and half brother Curtis Riley (Carly Browning) of Parkville, Missouri; granddaughter Meredith Riley and expected grandson Maverick Montgomery. The family suggests memorial contributions to Ottawa VFW 5901 or Ottawa American Legion Baseball Post 60 c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
