Tom Evans, 59, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Monday, November 21, 2016, at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri. Family will meet with friends from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Tom was born Friday, February 1, 1957, in Hannibal, Missouri, the son of Virgil “Bud” and Etta Maxine (Sutton) Evans. He grew up in Hannibal, moving in 1980 to Ottawa. He graduated from Hannibal High School with the class of 1975 and continued his education attending college for 2 years. Tom was united in marriage to Becky (Farris) Carey for the past 30 years. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his four children, Clint Evans and wife Shanna of Olathe, T.J. Evans and wife Mishaun of Ottawa, Tyler Carey and wife Kasi of Ottawa, and Jamie Roecker and husband Clint also of Ottawa; five siblings, Ron Evans and wife Carron of Loveland, Colorado, Jim Evans and wife Cathy of Jackson, Missouri, Jan Nemes and husband Joe of Hannibal, Missouri, Lila Person and husband Harvey also of Hannibal, Missouri, and Woody Salyer and wife Jane of Morgan Hill, California; sister-in-law, Wendy Evans of Columbia, Missouri; fourteen grandchildren, Colton, Kaitlyn, Ryen, Avery, Charlee, Robbi, Hesston, Ridley, Grayson, Kaylynn, Tommy, Hannah, Clayton, and Cadie; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Etta Evans; stepmother, Bonnie Evans; and brother, Bob Evans. Tom was employed by several telecommunication companies within the last 30 years, working in various locations nationwide as a project manager. He was most recently employed by Pulse Broadband, LLC as a new construction engineer based out of Chesterfield, Missouri. He was a high school basketball and football official from the mid-1980s to early 2000s. Tom coached his children in various sports for several years, in addition to girls fast pitch softball. Tom was a devoted husband, father, grandfather (Papa Tom), uncle and friend. He deeply loved his family and his favorite activities always centered on spending time with them. Outside of his time with his family, Tom also enjoyed playing golf, motorcycles, fishing, camping, carpentry and being outdoors.
