Thomas Young

Thomas E. Young, a former Paola and Osawatomie policeman died May 23, 2013 at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Tom was born to Howard E. Young and Frances Thomas Young on March 5, 1951 in Paola. Tom has been on disability since a police car accident in January 1999. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, sister Barbara Jo and first wife Judy. On July 7, 2007, Tom married June Smoley at Plum Creek United Methodist Church. Tom and June are members of the church. He is survived by his loving caring wife of six years, son Thomas J. Young and three grandchildren. He delighted many generations during the Christmas season playing Santa Claus throughout Paola. After failing health he still enjoyed playing Santa at the Senior Center in Osawatomie for the Plum Creek United Methodist Church's Christmas Store. He was always willing to give a helping hand and had a big heart. Tom was an organ donor and will be cremated. Memorial contributions may be made to Plum Creek United Methodist Church.
