Thomas Doherty

Thomas L. Doherty, 61, of Paola, passed away on February 4, 2015 at St. Joseph Health Center. He was born on November 24, 1953 to George and Winona (Beets) Doherty at Paola, Kansas. He graduated from Paola High School in 1971. Tom worked as an iron worker in many capacities for Local Union 10. He was a member of Paola Christian Church and Iron Workers Local Union 10. When his children were young, Tom loved to take them mountain trail riding and camping while on vacation in Colorado. He also loved fishing, racing motorcycles, and was an avid Jayhawks and Royals fan. Tom is survived by his loving brothers, Ron Doherty and Mike Doherty; sister, Karen Wiggin; son, Dustin Doherty; daughter, Lacey Doherty; and one granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his father, George T. Doherty; mother, Winona Marie Doherty; brothers, David Doherty and Larry Doherty; and nephew Jason Doherty. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Paola Christian Church or Miami County Cancer Foundation.
