Theresa (Terri) Marie Johnson A star fell from the sky this day, February 6th, 2005. Theresa Marie Johnson died this day at her home surrounded by family. As Family was the center of her universe, so too was she the center of ours. Terri was born February 20th, 1951 in Salina, KS, the outgoing daughter of Joe and Ida Knoll, the 2nd oldest of five children. She graduated from Solomon High School in 1970. Terri worked as the Publicity and Continuity Director at KINA radio station in Salina, KS before moving with her daughter Cheri to Lawrence, KS in 1980. While in Lawrence she met and married John Kelly Johnson of Deerfield, KS (August 22, 1981), worked towards her bachelor's degree in English, and was employed at KANU public radio station as an Underwriter while raising her daughter and giving birth to two sons (Lucas and Alex). In 1987, Terri moved to Syracuse, NY (working as a professional writer for the engineering firm O'Brien and Gier), and then to Nashville, TN (working as a fundraiser for Vanderbilt University's Blair School of Music) following her husband who worked in biomedical research. In 1991, Terri and her family moved back to Kansas where she was employed by the Kansas University Endowment Association as the Director of the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences (# years). She later held positions at KUEA as the Senior Director of the CLAS (# years), and most recently as the Director of Special Projects. Throughout her life, Terri donated her time and energy to a variety of causes that benefited others (e.g., Headquarters Counseling Center: first as a staff counselor and later on their Board of Directors). Terri is survived by her husband, Kelly of the home; her daughter, Cheri Marie Thomas of Camas, WA; her son-in-law Kent Thomas also of Camas; her two sons, Lucas Kelly Johnson of Lawrence, and Alex Michael Johnson of the home; and her two granddaughters, Emily Catherine Thomas and Hanna Jo Thomas of Camas, WA. Terri is survived also by her sister, Shirley Knoll of Wichita; and her two brothers, Tom Knoll of Salina, KS and Mark Knoll of Baldwin, KS. She is also survived by six nieces (Kayla, Katie, Maddie, McKaley, Andrea, and Ashley) and four nephews (Nathan, Ben, Tim, and Taylor). Her older brother, Larry, is deceased, as is Ida and Joe, her Mom and Dad. Memorial services for Terri Johnson will be at 10:30 a.m., February 9th at the Methodist Church in Baldwin, KS. Burial of her ashes will follow later in the Deerfield Cemetery in Deerfield, KS. The family suggests memorials be sent to the Douglas County Visiting Nurses Association, and to Hospice Care in Douglas County, sent in care of Dengel & Son Mortuary, at 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, KS 66067. SERVICES: Memorial services will be held at First United Methodist Church in Baldwin City, Kansas, 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 9, 2005. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Rev. Pam Morrison. IN STATE: Mrs. Johnson`s body has been cremated. INURNMENT: Burial of her ashes will follow at a later date in the Deerfield Cemetery in Deerfield, Kansas.
