Thelma Miller, 85, of Ottawa, passed away Monday, November 19, 2018. Family will meet with friends from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Friday, November 23, 2018, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Private family inurnment to be held later at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. Thelma was born September 5, 1933, in Grant, Oklahoma, the daughter of Oscar and Frances (Shephard) Bunch. She was a lifelong Ottawa resident. She graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1950. Thelma was united in marriage to Harlan F. Miller August 4, 1950, in Ottawa. They celebrated over sixty years together before he preceded her in death on June 15, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Calvin and David Bunch; and grandson, Tyler Miller. Survivors include children, Melissa “Cathy” Miller of Ottawa, Calvin Miller and wife Kathy of Ottawa, and Kenny Miller and wife Lisa also of Ottawa; brother, James Bunch and wife Doris of Mound City; six grandchildren, Callie Moore and husband Jason, Kassy Moore and husband Eric, Andrew Miller and wife Angela, Addison Miller and wife Stephanie, Alyssa Crook and husband Ryan, and Aaron Miller; and nine great-grandchildren. Through the years Thelma was employed at Southwestern Bell as an operator and as a bookkeeper, from the late 1950s to the 1980s, at Montgomery Ward, Peoples Bank and Harlan’s Car & Truck Repair, all of Ottawa. She was a member of the Soroptimist Club of Ottawa. Thelma enjoyed fishing and needlework but her greatest joy was family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
