Thelma L. “Sally” Griffin, 88, of Pomona, Kansas, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, March 25, 2017. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, March 31, 2017, at Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona. Family will meet with friends from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Thursday, March 30, 2017, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Sally was born Tuesday, September 25, 1928, in Quinton, Oklahoma, the daughter of Jim and Dovie (Wadkins) Johnson. She was a long-time resident of Pomona, moving to Waverly, in 2017. Sally attended schools in Oklahoma. Sally was united in marriage to Graden W. Griffin January 10, 1949, at Pampa, Texas. He preceded her in death on May 10, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Dovie Johnson; two brothers and four sisters. Survivors include her son, Gary Griffin and wife Cindy of Centropolis; daughter, Patty Garrett and husband Stan of Burlington; sister, Anne Sommer of Cottonwood Falls; brother-in-law, Jim Nichols of Emporia; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and friends. She attended the Pomona Assembly of God Church for many years. Sally worked nineteen years for the H.D. Lee Company and for several years at Ransom Memorial Hospital, both in Ottawa.
