Tate M. Leach

April 30, 1915 — January 10, 2004

Tate M. Leach was born April 30, 1915, at Baldwin City, Kansas. He was the son of A. Judson and Lula J. (Haas) Leach. Tate grew up in Baldwin and lived in Wellsville before moving to Ottawa in Franklin County, Kansas in 1948, where he made his home until his death Saturday, January 10, 2004, at the age of eighty-eight years. He was a lifelong self-employed livestock dealer. He bought and sold bulls, stock cattle, and horses. Mr. Leach was a long time member of Ottawa Lodge #803, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, and Aerie Lodge #2700, Fraternal Order of Eagles, of Ottawa. He enjoyed watching T.V., especially, 'Price Is Right' and all sports. He was an outgoing and caring man, who was always ready to help anyone who needed him. Tate's first devotion was to his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His second devotion was to his career. Cattle and horses were his life. He loved buying and selling bulls, stock cattle, and horses. On October 2, 1943, Tate was united in marriage with Edna Anna Lee. They later divorced. She died April 14, 1992. He is also preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and one sister. Mr. Leach is survived by his son, Don Leach and his wife, Linda, of Ottawa; sister, Helen Pride of Modesto, California; brother, Russell Leach and his wife, Billie, of Baldwin, Kansas; four grandsons, Ryan Leach, Shaun Butts, Kelly Butts, Jon Mixer; and seven great-grandchildren. SERVICES: Family and friends will meet for graveside services 2:00pm, Wednesday, January 14, 2004 at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa.
