Tammy Kay (Currant) Griffin, 49, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Lee’s Summit Medical Center, Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at Dengel & Son Mortuary, 3:00 P.M. Saturday, December 7, 2013. Family will meet with friends one hour prior to services. Following the funeral service, cremation is planned. Tammy was born on Monday, May 25, 1964 in Ottawa, Kansas. She was the daughter of Alvin Fremont and Carolyn Kay (Wadkins) Currant. She grew up in Ottawa, moving to Olathe, Kansas in 1990 and later to Lee’s Summit, Missouri in 2003. Tammy graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1983. Survivors include her longtime companion, Paul Lauer of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; sister, Kim Hale of Ottawa; brother, Ronald Currant and his wife Michelle of Ottawa; three step-brothers, Tom of Boston, Massachusetts, Ron West of Lawrence, Kansas, and Randy West of Ottawa; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Cathy Currant; and brother, Doyle Currant. Tammy worked many years for Taylor Industries and Hussman Corporation in the supermarket refrigeration department. She also worked for Dillard’s Warehouse, King Radio and HD Lee Company. She enjoyed playing with her dogs, cooking, eating and spoiling her nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed spending time in Mexico.
