Sylvia Irene Mccurdy

Sylvia Irene McCurdy was born November 4, 1917, at Garnett, Kansas. She was the daughter of Harry and Matilda (Morris) Ashburn. Sylvia moved to Williamsburg, in Franklin County, Kansas in 1938, where she made her home until her death Saturday, April 13, 2002, at the age of eighty-four years. She was a lifelong homemaker. Sylvia was a family focused person, taking pride in her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking for her family, quilting and working in her garden. She also enjoyed the Nashville network on T.V. and Good Morning America. On January 28, 1937, Sylvia was united in marriage with Clifford M. McCurdy at Garnett, Kansas. He preceded her in death on March 27, 1990. She is also preceded in death by her parents; three sons, Stephen McCurdy, infant, 1959, Francis McCurdy, infant, 1954, Thomas McCurdy, 1949; four sisters, Alta Welborn, Theda Foltz, Freda Cox, Harrietta Dunlap-Miller; and, two brothers, William Ashburn and Ronald Ashburn. Surviving are six sons, David McCurdy and his wife, Terri, of Ottawa, Jim McCurdy and his wife, Kay, of Ottawa, Bill McCurdy and his wife, Susie, of Waverly, Denny McCurdy and his wife, Barbara, of Quenemo, Dale McCurdy and his wife, Peggy, of Melvern, Charles McCurdy of Williamsburg; three daughters, Debra Clark and her husband, Jerry, of La Cygne, Sharon Brown and her husband, Louis, of Ottawa, Carol Prather and her husband, Don, of Richmond; brother, Dean Ashburn, of Garnett; eighteen grandchildren; and, twenty great-grandchildren. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held at Williamsburg United Methodist Church 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2002 OFFICIATING CLERGY: Rev. Gail Bower. IN STATE: Mrs. McCurdy will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary from 5:00 p.m. Monday to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, where the family will meet with friends 7 to 8:00 Tuesday evening. CEMETERY: Mt.
